Vietnam on Thursday reaffirmed its sovereignty after the U.S. Embassy removed from its Facebook page an accurate Vietnamese map including its East Sea archipelagos.
The “blue checkmark” Facebook page U.S Embassy in Hanoi, an official account of the US Embassy to Vietnam has posted an article looking at the United States – Vietnam partnership during the last 25 years, in which the map of Vietnam has fully depicted with Paracel (Hoang Sa) and Spratly (Truong Sa) Islands in the South China Sea or Bien Dong Sea.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam has lodged an official complaint with China following the sinking of a Vietnamese fishing vessel near the Paracel (Hoàng Sa) archipelago, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Lê Thị Thu Hằng, said late Friday.
The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 2 voiced strong opposition to China’s military exercises around Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) Islands, and requested that the northern neighbour halt similar actions in the future.
Vietnam has urged all sides involved in South China Sea disputes to discharge their legal duties and contribute to maritime security.
BEIJING (Reuters) China called on Vietnam on Friday not to “complicate” the South China Sea issue, after a senior official in Vietnam said it could explore legal action, among various options, in its territorial dispute with China over the waters.
